WELCOME TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC!
I visited the Dominican Republic in October 1997.
It is a bit lower class compared to the likes of Barbados but it is still a great holiday resort.
Me and Liz had a great time here, we went all inclusive which was handy considering how much we both like to drink! We stayed at a hotel called the Hacienda Tropical which was part of a huge sprawling complex. The accomodation was very good and the hotel grounds were great also, but the downside of this place was the lack of facilities and things to do. Then again when you go on a cheaper caribbean holiday I suppose you expect that. Don't think we will go here again as we want to try other resorts first and there are much better places in the caribbean, but if it comes down to cost then you can't beat it.
Check out my pics...
Liz on our beach. It was nice there.
Swim up bar, now that is luxury! The service at this was pretty abysmal though, which was a pity as it would have been nice to get drunk here. In fact the drink I have in my hand in this picture was obtained from another bar in order to make it look like I'd got it here!
This was on an excursion called 'The Rum Runners'. If you ever go to the Dominican Republic do not fail to go on this trip. It was a brilliant day out. An open top jeep ride into the wilds on dirt tracks, we got absoultely covered in mud and soaked through. Fun? You bet! Oh and there was free booze too!!!
Paradise warrants shades and a pair of flourescent yellow shorts so I'm told!
I'll have to do more exercise before next years holiday!

Me in non-traditional paradise beach shot!
This was during a break during our horseback riding trip. I really enjoyed this break. Anything rather than be sat on that horse! Apparantly this was due to be a crystal clear lagoon, but as you can see it's not quite as expected. The tour guide blamed the heavy rain the night before causing mud to discolour it. Hmmm...
Overall the Dominican Republic is a great place to visit. We had a bit of bad weather but on the whole it was great.
